[BREAKING] Big changes coming to Disney World

Sorry for two emails in one day, Reader—not my style to harass your inbox, but this is more urgent and we're receiving a lot of questions!

Earlier this afternoon, Disney decided to announce the major changes to Genie+ (they did previously tell us to expect these changes in 2024).

It's a rough day for content creators 😅, but overall this is a win for guests. It will make things a bit easier, and if you can become an expert at the new system, you'll be able to get more Lightning Lanes in one day than you could with the current system.

Here's what we know so far:

  • These changes will be effective July 24, 2024. Soon!
  • "Genie+" is gone - it is now going to be called Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
  • Individual Lightning Lane Selections will be called Lightning Lane Single Pass.
  • These are both paid extras. If you're a WDW veteran, the changes are essentially a paid version of the old FastPass+ system (shoutout to the name of our previous system, "Line Hacks!").
  • You'll be able to purchase and make up to 3 Lightning Lane selections ahead of time. For LL Single Passes, you can book up to two a day in advance.
  • The advanced booking window is "7 days in advance for resort guests, and 3 days in advance for non-resort guests." It will open at 7am EST.
  • There will be Tiers, like the old FastPass+ system. For example, at Magic Kingdom, only 1 of your 3 selections can be for the following rides: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The other initial 2 selections would be for all other attractions that have Lightning Lane access.

Here's some more general observations of mine, that aren't necessarily official:

  • Looking at the rules, it looks like you'll be able to make your next Lightning Lane selection as soon as you use one of the first three (this wasn't the case with the previous FastPass+). If this is the case, this is excellent -- it's going to be easier to cumulatively get more Lightning Lanes in a day.
  • There will be more intricacies with this new system. Meaning, those who take the time to study up and learn the "hacks" and ins & outs of the rules will be at a huge advantage (it's just the truth, this goes with most things Disney planning). An even bigger advantage than with the current Genie+ system. There will be more ways to "win".
  • There will likely be more "day of" availability released by Disney, not just guests canceling and modifying Lightning Lane reservations. Another win.
  • Yes, you will be able to park hop and there's not going to be an additional cost. You'll pre-book your selections for the first park you're visiting. And then it's likely that after you scan into one LL, you'll be able to book the next for any park. Not sure how the Tiers will play into this though; but they might not.
  • We don't know pricing yet.

What can customers expect?

We're on top of it. When Genie+ rolled out in October 2021, we were praised and credited by many other Disney content creators and news sources for being one of the go-to sources for breaking info, as we tested the service on the ground for 10 days straight. It was exhausting and fun!

While we likely won't be there 10 days straight this time, we'll be doing the same thing!

However, please know that many things and offerings won't be known until the service starts on July 24th, and even a few days after that. There is only so much you can learn beforehand, and unfortunately, we can't do all the screenshots and video recordings we'll need to do until the service rolls out.

Everything from basic to advanced hacks and techniques will be covered and included in our Genie+ Mastery Mini-Course (which is likely getting a name change in the next month!) within the first few weeks of rollout. If you already have it, stay tuned.

If you know you want to get the detailed updates, you can grab your copy here (use the coupon GENIE25 for 25% off).

We will of course cover the basics and must-knows in other products and in our emails, but the bulk of the "insider" stuff will be in that mini-course above. Please understand that the way we stay in business is through customers who support us via purchasing out products. We do not do any advertising, sponsorships, or take money from external businesses, so we're not able to give away all of our hard work for free (we wouldn't exist!).

Much more to come on everything Lightning Lanes over the next month and more! 🥴
